Gorakhpur: A vicious street dog in UP's Gorakhpur went on a biting spree and attacked 17 people, including women and children, within an hour. The incident reportedly occurred on August 14.

A CCTV footage of the incident has now surfaced and shows the dog lunging at a 22-year-old student as he was talking on his phone outside his house. The injured, identified as Ashish Yadav, a BBA student, was on the phone at 9:45 PM on Wednesday when the stray dog suddenly attacked, baring its teeth.

Ashish is seen attempting to stop the dog and kicking it, but it continues barking and biting.

The dog gnaws at the man's leg, causing Ashish to eventually fall to the ground. The dog then jumps and sinks its teeth into his face before departing. He is left bleeding from the mouth, eyes, and lips.

The deadly dog's next target was a woman who was returning home and standing right in front of her house.

Next, the dog preyed on two girls playing outside their home.

According to reports, Ashish's father, Vijay Yadav, stated that the district hospital had run out of rabies vaccine when he took his son for a shot.

The victims said they have informed the municipal corporation about the situation, but no action has been taken yet.

Durgesh Mishra, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Gorakhpur, said he was not aware of the incident and had not received any complaints. "We regularly run a campaign for sterilization of stray dogs. An Animal Birth Control Center is also being built. Stray dogs are being caught and sterilized, and we run awareness campaigns for vaccination for pet dogs," he said.
