Kolkata: In a major revelation, the father of the trainee doctor raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has flagged inconsistencies in the case.
The victim's father has said, ‘the entire department was a suspect’; he has also raised other questions with respect to his daughter.
'Entire Department Was A Suspect': Abhaya's Father
While addressing the media after his interaction with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) who is looking into the Kolkata Rape and Murder Case, the victim's father said that his daughter was facing some issues in her workplace and that he believes the entire department was a suspect.
In his words, “She had to face some problems in college, the entire department was a suspect.”
‘…Nobody Needed Her, Despite Her Being An On-Duty Doctor’
Hinting at the involvement of the doctors, interns and nurses of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Abhaya's father said that the most concerning part is that despite his daughter being on-duty, nobody felt her absence for seven hours.
He said, “My daughter left for duty at around 8:10 am on that day. She was on OPD and last spoke to her mother at around 11:15 PM. In the morning when my wife was calling her, her phone was ringing but no one picked up, by that time my daughter died.”
He further said, “The matter of concern is that from 3 AM to 10 AM, nobody needed her, despite she was an on-duty doctor…”
‘Doctors and Interns Involved in her Rape and Murder’
According to a CBI officer quoted by PTI, “The parents told us that they suspect the involvement of multiple people behind the sexual assault and murder of their daughter. They have given names of a few interns and doctors who worked with her at the hospital.”
After his first interaction with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Abhaya's father revealed to the media that the agency has assured complete support and justice and that he has turned down compensation for his daughter's death. He said, “My daughter died a painful death. If I accept money in return for my daughter's life, she will be wronged.”
