EVMs Recovered Out of Dumpsters in Gujarat's Borsad
Both EVMs were discovered by locals in the trash can and in the garbage that was overflowing out of the dumpster because of rains.
New Delhi: In a shocking incident that has come to light, two EVMs have been found in the dumpster in Borsad area of Anand district.
Both EVMs were discovered by locals in the trash can and in the garbage that was overflowing out of the dumpster because of rains.
In the Juna Shak market area of the city of Borsad locals were shocked to see the machines which they are used to seeing only during elections - lying in the garbage after it overflowed from the dumpster in the market area.
Locals immediately had alerted the officials on the ground. And the incident has been taken note of by the election commission as well. In that they have also found and shared that these both EVMs had been used in the local body elections which were conducted in 2018.
Both the EVMs upon investigation were found to have been used in the 2018 by elections in the Panchayat elections in the Amiyad village in the district. “We were alerted by the locals that there were EVMs found in the trash. We went there and immediately seized the EVMs and upon inspection we have found them to be used in the 2018 by elections. We have also asked for a report by the local police to check the cctvs and understand if these EVMs were placed by someone in the dumpster recently or how they even came into possession of these machines. Rest assured, there will be a thorough investigation into this matter,” said Amit patel , sub divisional magistrate , Borsad.
