Faridabad: Ten months ago, a woman secretly buried her daughter in their Faridabad homein Haryana. However, the shocking discovery came to light on Sunday after the girl's father, who lives in Saudi Arabia, lodged a complaint about his missing daughter. Acting on his tip, police conducted a search of the house, leading to the exhumation of the body. The remains have been sent for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.

The deceased, Parveena, was 17-years-old. Her mother, Anitha Begum, has been taken into police custody.

The father, Tahir, emailed the police on June 7 to report his daughter missing. When asked why it took him so many months to file a complaint, authorities explained that he and his wife were not on good terms.

The mother has denied killing her daughter and told the cops that Parveena died by suicide. She, however, confessed to the cops that she buried her in the house as she feared that the news of the suicide would tarnish the family’s reputation. She admitted to burying her daughter with the help of two others.

"I did not kill her. She had affairs and used to run away. We had locked her up, and while we slept, she died by suicide. Fearing a bad name, we buried her in the house. It was a big mistake, I admit it," Anitha Begum told the police. Authorities state that further investigation will begin once the postmortem results are available.
