New Delhi: A web of rampant corruption has erupted in the chief minister's home district to the tones of crores of rupees in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). In a 50:50 ratio and percentage there has been a huge fraud in the allotment of incentive replacement sites, with a total of 4,500 to 5,000 sites allotted causing a loss of over Rs 4,000 Cr. This has led to allegations that there are powerful people behind the alleged MUDA scam. The allotment of plots has taken place illegally in prominent layouts like Vijayanagar, Dattagalli, J.P. Nagar, R.T. Nagar, Hanchya-Satagalli and other prominent layouts in mysuru in violation of government allotment rules. The case has now reached the government's court. Bjp MLA from Krishnaraja constituency, T.S. Srivatsa, has lodged a complaint with the Chief Secretary and speaking to Republic he said that "we have sought action against MUDA officials who have committed irregularities in the allotment of plots without any target. We have demanded a probe into who is behind the scam and the fight will continue."

Siddaramaiah Government in damage control mode!

Urban Development Minister Byrathi Suresh, has ordered a probe into the irregularities in the allotment of plots. In addition, an oral order for the transfer of four officials has also been passed. MUDA Commissioner Dinesh Kumar has provided all the necessary information and accordingly the minister has ordered the immediate transfer of the secretary, assistant executive engineer and other officials. Two senior IAS officers have been appointed to probe the scam and a report has to be submitted within four weeks. No processes related to site allotment should be carried out in MUDA.

Minister for urban development and town planning Byrathi Suresh speaking to Republic said that "the role of MLC Dr. Yathindra in the MUDA scam is yet to be ascertained. MLC H Vishwanath is a senior leader. If they have any evidence or documents, they should be produced. It is not right to make allegations without a record. Let me give a reminder, Vishwanath  himself had approached me for a plot. Action will be taken against the guilty and all the allotments have been cancelled."

Meanwhile BJP MLC H Vishwanath alleged the role of Siddaramaiah's Yathindra and speaking to Republic he alleged that " Rs 5,000 crore scam has taken place in Mysore urban development authority. Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah has a role in the scam. The probe of scam should be handed over to the CBI. The SIT cannot conduct a transparent investigation."

Defending MUDA, CM Siddaramaiah that the land measuring 3 acres and 16 guntas near outer ring road in Mysuru belonging to his wife was distributed by the MUDA without even acquiring it and as a compensation they had given her plots under the 50% ratio scheme of the Mysore urban development authority as compensation. The land to CM's wife has been given in 2021 by the MUDA under BJP government.

The government has clarified that the 50:50 site allotment is cancelled and cabinet approval is required for allotment of site but plots have been allotted without cabinet approval which are in violation of the rules and an inquiry has been ordered to find out about the irregularities and discrepancies. 4 officials have been transferred which includes the commissioner, secretary and two assistant executive engineers.
