BJP’s MP Gautam Gambhir commented on the Odd-Even rule which is going to return in Delhi from November 4 to November 15. Gambhir claimed that it was a political gimmick and that the Delhi government has not done anything in the past 4 years. He added that the Centre has done a great job for pollution in the national capital and that Arvind Kejriwal is "just taking credit" for things even which are out of his jurisdiction.

Arvind Kejriwal on reintroducing the Odd-Even rule

Delhi Chief Minister and the President of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Arvind Kejriwal, on Friday, had said that the Odd-Even vehicle rule is all set to return to the national capital from November 4 to November 15. He also said that the move is expected to reduce pollution in the area by 13-15%. While talking to the media, Kejriwal said that he has received a lot of suggestions for pollution control from the public and that based on these suggestions, the AAP government has come up with a seven-point action plan.

Soon after Arvind Kejriwal announced the Odd-Even scheme, Minister for Road Transport& Highways, Nitin Gadkari, commented on the CM's plan and declared that the move was not needed at this moment. He added that the Ring Road built by the Centre has significantly reduced the pollution in the city. He ensured that Central govt's planned schemes will reduce pollution in Delhi in the next two years and make it pollution-free. The Delhi CM Kejriwal is sure about his seven-point action plan of pollution control in the national capital.

What is the Odd-Even scheme?

In the Odd-Even scheme, vehicles whose registration number ends on even digits are allowed on even dates and those with odd digits will be allowed to drive on odd dates. The timing for the odd even scheme in previous phases was from 8 am to 8 pm. The violators of the rule were fined up to Rs 2000. The Kejriwal government also exempted two-wheelers, women-only vehicles, CNG, hybrid and electric vehicles, emergency vehicles and VIPs in the previous phases. However, the Delhi Chief Minister announced that they will exempt only emergency vehicle this time.
