A mechanical engineer who made the saying "try, try, till you succeed" immortal and passed the UPSC

One of the hardest exams in the world, the Civil Services Exam (CSE), is one that millions of UPSC candidates have attempted to pass for years. Only a small percentage succeed in breaking through, even after years of effort and dedication. But, IAS Kartik Jivani passed the UPSC exam three times, not just once or twice. You did indeed read correctly! Kartik's first major accomplishment was earning an AIR-94 in the UPSC CSE 2019. He was eligible to join the Indian Police Services (IPS), but he was determined to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

He therefore persisted in his unwavering efforts while juggling his IPS training in Hyderabad. He followed a strict 10-hour study plan, emphasising ingenious research before diligence. Kartik showed up for the exam once more, and this time he went up ten spots to get an amazing AIR-84. But he was once again not eligible for the IAS. Rather than wallow in despair, he concentrated on preparation and his IPS. Despite the obstacles and disappointments, Kartik persisted in pursuing his goal of becoming an IAS.

Ultimately, his perseverance paid off as he secured the title of Gujarat's top candidate and fulfilled his dream of becoming an IAS with an incredible rank of AIR-8. His remarkable transformation from a focused UPSC candidate to a renowned IAS officer is evidence of his tenacity and unwavering resolve.

For those who don't know, a Surat native Kartik, the Indian Police Services' Gujarat Cadre officer, has a remarkable record of passing the UPSC CSE Exam. In the UPSC CSE 2020, he secured the coveted All-India Rank of 8, which was the highest rank ever for the state of Gujarat. Four attempts were made by Kartik Jivani to become an IAS.

Kartik got into the esteemed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, where he was accepted into the Mechanical Engineering programme, after he studied hard and passed the JEE exam. Kartik Jivani decided in his final year of college to pursue a career in public service. 2016 saw him start studying for the UPSC test.
