Ghaziabad Traffic News: Do you use Hindon Elevated Road regularly? THESE vehicles are now banned!

Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Traffic Police recently announced the decision to ban slow-moving vehicles, including autos, e-rickshaws, tractors, and trolleys, along a 10.3 km stretch of the Hindon Elevated Road, linking Ghaziabad to East Delhi. Violators will face a fine of Rs 20,000 as the new rule comes into effect from January 10. The decision aims to enhance the safety by curbing accidents and improving traffic flow. Slow-moving vehicles have often been involved in accidents, causing disruptions to other vehicles on this route. Barring the slow moving vehicles come as a relief to many daily commuters.  

Starting January 10, only bikes/scooters, cars, and larger vehicles will have access to the elevated road, reports claimed. 

Hindon Elevated Road, a 10.3km expressway situated in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, connects Raj Nagar Extension to UP Gate on the Delhi border. This four-lane, signal-free road falls under the jurisdiction of Nandgram, Sahibabad, Indirapuram, and Kaushambi police stations. It serves as a crucial link to NH-24, also known as the Delhi–Meerut Expressway. With a speed limit of 80kmph, the road witnesses an estimated traffic volume of around 40,000 passenger cars daily. It acts as a bypass for vehicles heading towards Western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The decision to regulate slow-moving vehicles comes after previous concerns about safety and traffic management on the Hindon Elevated Road. Notably, in January 2023, Ghaziabad police received complaints from the locals regarding people shooting videos on this busy road creating chaos. In response, the police opted for comprehensive real-time surveillance by installing CCTV cameras along the entire 10.3 km stretch.
