Guwahati: In the Fatasil Ambari area, a leopard intrusion resulted in injuries to three individuals, including two forest personnel and a local youth, according to an ANI report on Tuesday, December 19. The incident happened as the leopard ventured into an under-construction building and launched an attack on a resident.

Quick action was taken by a team from the forest department upon receiving the report. However, when they attempted to capture the leopard, it retaliated, injuring two forest staff members in the process. Fortunately, all injured parties, including the local youth and forest officers, are reported to be safe following the incident.

Speaking to ANI, Rohini Saikia, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Kamrup East Division, confirmed the incident, stating, “Two forest staff and one local were injured after the leopard attacked them. However, all are safe. We had already tranquilised the leopard and safely rescued it.”

The injured individuals received immediate medical attention and were transported to a nearby hospital. As per reports, they are in stable condition and are expected to recover fully.

The successful tranquilisation and rescue operation by the forest department prevented further harm and ensured the safe containment of the leopard, averting potential risks to both humans and the animal involved.
