The party leaders along with YS Sharmila has decided to head to the National Capital on Wednesday, following which key announcement will be made in Delhi.
Hyderabad: In anticipation of the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly elections and the 2024 Lok Sabha Polls, a potential merger is in the works between YS Sharmila’s YSRTP party and the Congress.
YSRTP chief YS Sharmila convened a meeting with party leaders in Hyderabad, engaging in crucial discussions about the merger with the Congress. The merger process has reportedly entered its final stages.
Following the discussions, YS Sharmila, accompanied by party leaders, is set to travel to the National Capital on Wednesday. A significant announcement regarding the party's merger and future activities is expected in Delhi.
Sources suggest that YS Sharmila is likely to assume a prominent position within the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
This merger, occurring just ahead of the Andhra Pradesh state assembly elections, sets the stage for a direct political confrontation between YS Sharmila and her brother, CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Notably, discussions between YSRTP and the Congress party have been ongoing for the past 3 to 4 months. Additionally, during the Telangana Assembly elections, YS Sharmila had declared full support for the Congress in the state.
