Ghaziabad Court on Edge After Argument Between Judge And Lawyers, Cops Called In

Ghaziabad: Chaos broke out after a heated argument between a judge and a lawyer at Ghaziabad court. More lawyers gathered in the judge's chamber and created a chaos, police were called in to control the situation. 

A video surfaced on social media which showed police lifting chairs and chasing away the lawyers. 

Reports said that several lawyers sustained injuries during the incident, prompting the Bar Association has a meeting to address the situation. After being removed away from the judge's chamber, the lawyers gathered outside and staged a protest against the actions of the security forces, expressing their frustrations and solidarity with one another.

Paramilitary personnel also joined the security action to bring the situation under control.

Police said, the judge and the lawyer had a heated exchange over bail petition.

"In the judge's chamber, a matter relating to an anticipatory bail was being heard. Several lawyers were present. They demanded the transfer of the petition. On being refused, they became aggressive. Police responded by sending the lawyers to their chambers. The advocates also damaged furniture. We are scanning CCTV footage and taking the required steps," said Dinesh Kumar P, Additional Commissioner of Police, Ghaziabad.
