Good News: New Expressway To Cut Ghaziabad-Kanpur Travel Time by 3 Hours

New Delhi: In a significant boost for Uttar Pradesh’s infrastructure, a new expressway linking Ghaziabad to Kanpur is set to reduce travel time by a substantial three hours. This upcoming expressway will join the rapidly expanding network of highways in the state, enhancing connectivity across key regions.Once completed, the expressway will reduce the travel time from 8 hours to just 5 hours. The 380-kilometer-long Greenfield Expressway, named the Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway, aims to significantly shorten the route from Delhi-Ghaziabad to Kanpur. Currently, this journey takes around 7 to 8 hours, but with the new expressway, it will take only about 5.5 hours. Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway: Connecting 9 Districts of UPConnecting nine major districts—Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Unnao, and Kanpur—the expressway is expected to ease traffic and stimulate regional development. The project will pave the way for industrial centers to be set up along its route, fostering economic growth in these regions. Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway: Greenfield ExpresswayAs a greenfield project, the expressway is initially planned with four lanes, with the potential for expansion to six lanes in the future. One of its unique features is that it may eventually connect to Noida’s Jewar Airport, further enhancing Kanpur’s connectivity.The expressway will link NH-9 (Ghaziabad-Hapur Highway) in the north to the Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway in the south. Originally planned as a route from Hapur to Kanpur, the project now includes a 60-kilometer connector road from Hapur to the Meerut Expressway, enhancing connectivity for both Hapur and Meerut.Completion By 2026Construction has already begun, and the expressway is slated for completion by 2026. Once operational, it will greatly improve accessibility from Delhi-NCR to Kanpur and other cities across Uttar Pradesh.
