In an incident that took place at the Kandla Special Economic Zone in Gandhidham, Gujarat, unidentified assailants attacked the security guards. The reason being reported behind this attack is due to the assailants being denied entry into the premises.

The entire unprovoked confrontation was caught on CCTV camera on Saturday, October 5. In the footage, the assailants can be seen entering the Special Economic Zone from the other side of the gate, the assailants further go on to chase and begin attacking the guards with swords and sticks. The guards are seen trying to protect themselves by hiding with the police rushing in an attempt to stop the assailants and are successful in preventing any casualties or injuries. Towards the end of the video, the assailants are seen fleeing from the spot of the crime. The search is on for those involved and further information is awaited.
₹400 crore scam unearthed at Kandla SEZ
The Directorate General of GST Intelligence in September, had uncovered a scam in which exporters from the National Capital Region (NCR) allegedly availed GST refund of ₹400 crore in collusion with units in the Kandla SEZ, an official is reported to have said. A DGGI release said the scam was centred around low-grade tobacco products like scented ''zarda'' (partially fermented tobacco) and filter ''khaini'' (chewing tobacco) procured at ₹50-350 per kilogram being exported to Kandla SEZ units at ₹5,000-9,000 per kg. The exporters then claimed ₹400 crore refund of accumulated Input Tax Credit (ITC), the release said, adding that the conspiracy was hatched by 20 export firms from NCR and some units located in Kandla SEZ. It is reported that the key conspirators have been identified and efforts were underway to apprehend them.
