'Hang Me If You Want': Kolkata Rape and Murder Accused Sanjoy Roy To Police After Arrest

Kolkata: Sanjoy Roy, the accused in the Kolkata Rape and Murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has no remorse or guilt for committing such a heinous crime.

According to local media, after being arrested and committing to the crime, Sanjoy Roy told the police to hang him if they want.

The horrific case of rape and murder of ‘Abhaya’, a trainee doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has shocked the entire nation. 

The accused in the Kolkata Horror, Sanjoy Roy has been arrested by the police and is in police custody till August 23, 2024.

After being arrested by the Kolkata Police, Roy confessed to his crime and had no guilt or remorse for doing what he did.

Local media reports that after his confession post the arrest, he went on to say to the police officials, ‘Hang me if you want’. 

Who is Sanjoy Roy, Accused in Brutal Rape and Murder of Kolkata Trainee Doctor

Sanjay Roy, an accused who has been arrested in the rape and murder case of a trainee doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, was working as a civic volunteer on the police welfare board.

He has had a history of failed marriages and according to the police, a lot of pornographic content was found on his phone.

In the early hours of August 9, the trainee doctor's body was found in a semi-naked condition in the seminar hall of the medical college; the accused committed the crime and then left, washed his clothes to destroy evidence.

While leaving, Sanjoy Roy left his bluetooth headset behind, which was also paired with his phone; this was a vital lead for the police, leading to his arrest.

Doctors and non-medicos have raised their voice against this chilling murder and the incident has also led to questions of women security at all times, even at their workplace.

The medical students have called for nationwide protests and doctors have also halted medical services across the country, including Maharashtra, Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kolkata.

The autopsy reports of the victim reveal chilling details of how she was raped before being murdered, her neck was broken, multiple body parts including her private parts were bleeding and she was severely injured.
