Have any info to share on terrorists, drug-traffickers? J&K Police announces BIG cash reward
The incentive program includes a substantial Rs 5 lakh cash reward for information on trans-border tunnels utilized by anti-national elements.
Srinagar: In a bold move to fortify national security, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) has unveiled a groundbreaking cash reward initiative, urging citizens to share critical intel on trans-border tunnels, drones, narcotics, and terror activities.
This initiative, announced on Sunday, seeks to mobilize public engagement in countering anti-national threats and reinforcing regional safety.
In an official statement posted on X handle, J&K Police assured citizens that their identities would remain confidential, fostering a collaborative spirit between law enforcement and the community.
The incentive program includes a substantial Rs 5 lakh cash reward for information on trans-border tunnels utilized by anti-national elements, underscoring its role in thwarting potential threats and preserving border integrity.
Additionally, a reward of Rs 3 lakh is designated for those who spot drones entering the region, aligning with growing concerns over the nefarious use of drones. Citizens are called upon to report inter-state narcotics modules, communication with Pakistan-based terrorists, and separatists in jails, with a Rs 2 lakh cash reward for each crucial piece of information.
The initiative extends rewards for exposing communications with terrorist handlers, agents within Jammu and Kashmir and identifying labelled informers. Counter-terrorism recruitment efforts are also targeted, offering a Rs 1 lakh cash reward for information on those inciting people to join terrorist ranks.
To ensure actionable intelligence, JKP has introduced a tiered cash reward system ranging from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 12.50 lakh for information leading to successful counter-terrorism operations, categorized by threat levels A, B and C.
Reassuring citizens, JKP emphasizes the confidentiality of their identities when reporting critical information. The initiative mirrors a collaborative approach between law enforcement and the community, emphasizing the collective responsibility of maintaining peace and security.
“Cash reward system will not only act as a deterrent to criminal activities but also foster a sense of civic duty among residents. The initiative reflects the ongoing efforts by us (JKP) to actively involve citizens in the collective responsibility of maintaining peace and security here,” said a senior police official.
