Himachal Pradesh Weather Update: Orange Warning Issued For Heavy Rain, Snowfall

Shimla: The weather in Himachal Pradesh is expected to deteriorate again from Monday, with possibilities of snow in upper areas and rain in plains. An orange alert has been issued for heavy rain and snowfall in three districts, including Kangra, Chamba, and Lahaul Spiti, on March 3. The weather alert came up after a brief spell of clear weather today, following a period of heavy snowfall and rain that stopped yesterday.

According to Dr Sandeep Sharma from the Meteorological Department in Shimla, the Western Disturbance will become active from late tonight, leading to the adverse weather conditions. The alert has been issued to ensure that residents and authorities are prepared for the impending bad weather.

Meanwhile, the state government and local authorities are gearing up to tackle the situation. The emergency services are on standby, and residents have been advised to take necessary precautions. The experts stated that the orange alert is a warning signal for residents to be prepared for possible disruptions in daily life.

In addition, the Meteorological Department has warned that the rain and snowfall may disrupt traffic and communication services. The residents have been advised to stay indoors and avoid travelling unless necessary.

Earlier, the previous spell of bad weather had caused widespread disruptions in the state. Over 157 roads, including three national highways, were closed due to heavy snowfall. The weather had also caused power outages and disruptions in essential services.

As the state prepares to face another spell of bad weather, residents are advised to stay vigilant and follow the instructions of local authorities.
