'If Ratan Tata Would Have Been Alive...': PM Modi at TATA Aircraft Complex Inauguration in Vadodara

Vadodara: Prime Minister Narendra Modi , who is currently in Vadodara to jointly inaugurate the TATA Aircraft Complex with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, remembered Ratan Tata in his speech and wished he had been alive to see this monumental step in Indian defence sector.

‘If Ratan Tata Would Have Been Alive…’

In his address in Vadodara post the inauguration of the TATA Aircraft Complex, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered Ratan Tata. He began his speech with saying, “Just some time ago, we lost India's great son Ratan Tata. Today, if Ratan Tata would have been alive, he would have been extremely happy.”

PM Modi further said, “But today, wherever he is, he would be feeling ecstatic. The factory of C295 aircrafts is a symbol of the new work culture of New India.”

Project Gives New Direction to India-Spain Relations

PM Modi also said, “This project has given a new direction to India-Spain relations. This factory will not only strengthen India-Spain relations, but will also empower the 'Make in India, Make for the World' mission. Today the Defence manufacturing ecosystem in India is touching new heights."

The Prime Minister further said, “The transformation of India's defence sector is an example of right plan and right partnership. In the past decade, the country has taken many such decisions which led to the development of a vibrant defence industry in India.”

All About Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) Facility

In Vadodara, Sanchez and Modi will jointly inaugurate the complex for manufacturing C-295 aircraft by TAS, the first private sector final assembly line for military aircraft in India. As many as 40 aircraft will be built in the Vadodara facility as part of an agreement, while aviation behemoth Airbus will deliver 16 aircraft directly.

TASL is responsible for making these 40 aircraft in India and this facility will be the first private sector final assembly line (FAL) for military planes in India. It will involve the full development of a complete ecosystem, from manufacture to assembly, test and qualification, to delivery and maintenance of the complete life cycle of the aircraft. Apart from the Tatas, leading defence public sector units, such as Bharat Electronics and Bharat Dynamics, as well as private micro, small and medium enterprises will contribute to this programme.
