Rooted in tradition yet enriched with modern flair of expression by youngsters, the festival has also become a global phenomena.

 PM Modi took to social media to say: "this festival of joy and gaiety will further strengthen the colour of our unity and goodwill".

Even B-Town stars conveyed their delight about Holi and posted heartwarming wishes to their fans on the occasion. Akshay Kumar, Karan Johar, Hrithik Roshan, and many others expressed wishes on Twitter. The stars hoped the spirit of Holi colours one's life with goodness, happiness, love, peace. 

Earlier on Thursday, Google marked the festival of Holi with a colourful doodle showcasing festivities and splashing of colours. Also known as the festivals of colours, Holi marks the end of winter and beginning of spring season.
