Indian BSF Jawan martyred by Bangladesh guards: Where it happened

The incident took place in the water channel of River Padma near Boundary Pillar 75/7-S where the BSF forces arrived for the Flag meeting called by the BGB.

One BSF Jawan was killed and another injured in firing after the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) opened fire on them following a flat meeting on Thursday. The BSF officers were brought to the Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital in Behrampore where Head Constable Vijay Bhan Singh succumbed to injuries and was declared dead whereas the other constable is currently under treatment. The incident took place in the water channel of River Padma near Boundary Pillar where the BSF forces arrived for the Flag meeting called by the BGB.

The incident took place in the water channel of River Padma near Boundary Pillar 75/7-S where around 10:30 am on Thursday, BSF Post Commander along with 5 troopers in the BSF boat, approached BGB patrol for the flag meeting that had been called.

The injured constables were immediately brought to the Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital in Behrampore.

The incident took place in the water channel of River Padma near Boundary Pillar 75/7-S where around 10:30 am on Thursday, BSF Post Commander along with 5 troopers in the BSF boat, approached BGB patrol for the flag meeting. The Flag meeting was called after two fishermen out of the three detained by the BGB on Thursday were released. At the meet, the Border Guard Bangladesh contingent did not release the third Indian fisherman and instead tried to cordon the BSF convoy. After sensing the situation worsening, the BSF party returned immediately and the BGP troops fired upon them injuring one constable and killing one.

BSF Head Constable Martyred

Head Constable Vijay Bhan Singh, born in 1968 was martyred on Thursday as the BGB forces opened up fire on the returning BSF convoy. Bhan Singh who belonged to Chamaroli in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh had joined the BSF in 1990 and is survived by two sons. Bhan Singh received bullet injuries on his head and the Constable/crew (boatman) received bullet injuries on his right hand. Singh succumbed to injuries and was declared brought dead.
