Indian Railway: Soon, stream free movies & TV shows on your train journeys; Piyush Goyal says you'll love it

In a major boost the Indian Railways, attempts are being made by the Railway Ministry-led by Union Minister Piyush Goyal which will allow the passengers to watch movies, shows, web series and much more during their train journey. As per media reports, the ministry decided to work with RailTel, a "Miniratna" enterprise to provide free content on-demand to the railway passengers on their personal devices. 

The application will provide multilingual content which has been preloaded on it, including movies, music, music video, TV serials, and other general entertainment. As per the officials, the passengers will enjoy buffer-free high-quality streaming of entertainment on their devices.

Taking to Twitter, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal confirmed the reports saying that the "passengers will love this!". He added saying "soon, stream favourite movies, shows, and music on trains and stations".

A pilot project will be initiated in which the content-on-demand app with preloaded content would be made available on the stations which already offer the free-WiFi service by RailTel. Following the completion of the project of the Indian Railways to enable WiFi on over 4,000 more stations by the end of 2019, the app with streaming content would be made available these stations and trains as well. This initiative will help in non-fare revenue generation for the Indian Railways.

Earlier in July, Union Minister Piyush Goyal had spoken about the recently inaugurated executive waiting lounges at railway stations. Taking to Twitter, Goyal had asked people to experience the state-of-the-art executive lounges at railway stations - a new addition to the railway amenities. These include state-of-art facilities like recliner seats and couches, dining halls and many other features which were opened up for people by the Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC). These add-ons at railway station appear to be nothing short of airport-like facilities.
