Pune: As the demand for justice intensifies following the tragic Porsche crash in Pune, emotions boiled over outside the city's court premises on Wednesday . Angered by the incident, protesters gathered in front of the court where proceedings related to Porsche crash case were underway. Tensions reached a tipping point when ink was thrown at the father of the accused, Vishal Agarwal, a prominent builder in Pune.

Pune police have apprehended five individuals, including Vishal Agarwal, the father of a 17-year-old boy accused of driving a speeding Porsche while allegedly intoxicated, resulting in a fatal collision with a motorcycle that claimed the lives of two young software engineers. The other four arrested individuals are proprietors and executives of two pubs, BLAK (located in Marriott Suites) and Cosie, where the minor purportedly consumed alcohol.

Vishal Agarwal, was detained in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, around 250km from Pune, by sleuths of the crime branch, which is probing the accident case, and brought to the city on Tuesday evening.

"We have arrested him in the case and he will be produced before a court on Wednesday," said Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
After the accident, the police had registered a case against the teenager's father under sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act and relevant provisions of the IPC.

Section 75 deals with "willful neglect of a child, or exposing a child to mental or physical illnesses," while section 77 deals with supplying a child with intoxicating liquor or drugs.

According to the FIR lodged in connection with the crash, the man, despite knowing his son did not have a valid driving licence, gave him the car, thus endangering the latter's life. He also allowed his son to party despite knowing that he consumes liquor.

Accused Teen Barred From Driving Till He Turns 25

The Maharashtra Transport Department has barred the 17-year-old man, driving the Porsche car that fatally knocked down two bike-borne techies in Pune on Sunday, from getting a driving licence until he turns 25 years of age.

Interestingly, the luxury car involved in the accident did not have a permanent registration. Coming down heavily, the transport department has said that the vehicle will not be allowed to register at any RTO office for 12 months as its existing temporary registration will be cancelled as per the provisions in the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act.

Porsche Will Be Impounded for 12 Months

The temporary registration certificate of the vehicle was issued by Karnataka and it was valid for six months – from March to September 2024.
During the temporary registration period, the vehicles are allowed to ply on road only to drive to and from the RTO but violating the rule, the minor took the car on road for his enjoyment purpose.

Citing another top official of the transport department, PTI reported that the vehicle will be impounded for 12 months. At the time of the mishap the vehicle was driven at a speed over 160 kmph by the driver, allegedly in an inebriated state as per media reports. The accused driver didn’t even have a valid driving license.
