The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday shared a tribute video on Twitter for the personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in the defense of the nation. The 2.12-minute video plays a patriotic song from an old Hindi film in the background with the photos and designation of 23 policemen and women who were martyred between September 1, 2018, and August 31, 2019, rolling one after the other.

"Our flag does not fly because the wind moves it; it flies with the last breath of each soldier who gave the supreme sacrifice of life protecting it," reads a line at the start of the video. The video was retweeted by Kashmir Zone Police's handle and was shared by many on the micro-blogging platform.

Tugging at heartstrings

The song that plays – Kar Chale Hum Fida Jaan-o-Tan Saathiyon – is from the 1964 Hindi war-film Haqeeqat and was composed by Mohammad Rafi. The video features Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik paying tributes to martyred soldiers and fellow police personnel carrying the coffins while many console each other.
