At an event on Monday, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar stated that measures such as abrogation of Article 370, the Ayodhya verdict delivered by the Supreme Court and the opening of Kartarpur corridor were the “characteristics” of “a determined government”. Recalling that there were bomb blasts in many cities earlier, he observed that this was not happening currently because of the internal security being strengthened. Moreover, Javadekar congratulated the people for welcoming the judgement of the Supreme Court in the Ayodhya land dispute case.
Javadekar said, "A few days back, Supreme Court had announced the verdict on Ram Temple. Throughout the country, everybody accepted it. I want to congratulate the people for welcoming this judgement.” He added, "Abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the Ayodhya verdict by Supreme Court and opening of Kartarpur Corridor are characteristics of a determined government. Earlier there were bomb blasts in different cities. Today, it is not happening because internal security has got strong. Also, there has been a decline in the activities of Naxalites."
Javadekar cites Kartarpur, abrogation of Article 370
Javadekar was mainly referring to two developments on November 9. First, the five-member Constitution bench of the Supreme Court ruled that the entire disputed territory in Ayodhya belonged to the Hindu parties. It also directed the government to provide a 5 acres plot in the same city to the Sunni Central Waqf Board for the construction of a mosque. On the same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the Kartarpur Corridor at Gurdaspur and Kartarpur respectively, facilitating the visa-free travel of Indian pilgrims to the iconic Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara in Pakistan. The reference to abrogation of Article 370 was a result of a Presidential order combined with requisite legislation passed in both Houses of Parliament in early August. This led to the scrapping of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). The state was also bifurcated into the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh.
