Javed Akhtar takes a dig at Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb's bizarre 'Scientific logic' and his critics with a single tweet

A couple of days ago Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb created a massive furrore with his bizarre statement that satellite communication and the internet existed at the time of Mahabharata, His statement while drawing a lot of ire, also paved way for a series of memes on social media. Now, lyricist Javed Akhtar has come forward and took a dig at the Tripura CM and also at all those who trolled him for his statement.

Wordsmith Akhtar made the first part of his tweet sound like as if he is trying to defend Biplab Deb as he began by writing, “Why are people making fun of the CM of Tripura for claiming that there was internet in Mahabharata times.”

Then came his double-edged rejoinder first at the trolls and then at the Tripura CM as he wrote, “They should look at their own religious beliefs with the same objectivity. Any religious belief in the world is only as logical and reasonable as the beliefs of this man.”

On April 17, Biplab Deb, in all seriousness, had reasoned that technology such as Internet and satellites were available in India during the 'time' of the Mahabharata.Addressing a workshop on PDS computerisation involving five north-east states, Biplab Deb spoke about Sanjaya narrating events in the Mahabharata war to Dhritarashtra:

"This is that country in which Sanjaya was sitting and telling Dhritarashtra what was happening in the Mahabharat war."

After making his mythological reference, Deb expounded on the real-world ramifications:

"That means technology was there! Internet was there, satellite was there..."

Justifying his statement, he added:

"How can he see through Sanjaya's eyes? This means that technology was there at that time. What happened in the middle, we don't know, but at that time, this technology was there."
