JDU Leader, Village Mukhiya Shot Dead In Nitish Kumar’s Home District Nalanda

Nalanda: A JDU leader and village ‘Mukhiya’ was shot dead in Bihar's Nalanda, which is the home district of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The incident took place on Thursday evening when the armed assailants shot dead the ‘Mukhiya’ of Aat Panchayat and a senior Janata Dal-United (JDU) worker Karu Tanti (65). The incident stirred massive tension in the area, where the locals from the surrounding area gathered and sought immediate arrest of the criminals involved in the killing. 

On the information regarding the murder of the JDU leader, the police team of the Nalanda district rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. The senior police officials assured the villagers of taking quick and appropriate action against the culprits. A heavy police deployment has been ensured in the area to avoid any violent incidents. 

Locals Stage Massive Protest In Nalanda

According to the reports, Karu Tanti was sitting at the door of his house when three unknown bike-borne assailants reached there and suddenly opened fire on him. Tanti tried to escape the spot but he received bullet injuries on his back. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Bihar Sharif where the doctors declared him dead. 

The deceased's son Dharmendra Kumar said that his father had no dispute with anyone. On the statement of the family members, the police registered a case under relevant sections and started a manhunt to nab the accused. 

Following the incident, Rajgir DSP Sunil Kumar Singh said that the police are investigating the case. “We have sent the body to Bihar Sharif Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. A special team has been formed to identify and arrest the criminals.” 

Locals say that Karu Tanti was an active worker of Janata Dal (United) and his murder has stirred up the politics of the region.
