National General Secretary of Janata Dal (United) Pavan Varma has reacted to the ongoing tussle between the allies BJP and Shiv Sena to form a government in Maharashtra. Speaking to news agency ANI, Varma said, "I think the drama in Maharashtra, the ongoing drama has gone on for too long. The elections happened, people gave some political parties the mandate to govern. People elect and create a government that governs as soon as possible, You cannot have an entire state as important as Maharashtra, held to hostage by the unending shenanigans for power between two political parties that do not seem to see an end to this play. So it's time to make a quick decision."

'Both parties have to maturely agree on a solution'

Last week, Pavan Varma had said that the two parties need to resolve their issues if they want to remain in power in Maharashtra. "Who is the TV and who is the remote control? This kind of language indicates there are some obstructions in communication. Both the parties have to sit down and maturely agree on a solution if they wish to be in power in Maharashtra."

'Is there a new 50-50 biscuit in the market?'

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi also fired shots at the BJP and Shiv Sena amidst their ongoing battle to form a government in Maharashtra, Owaisi asked whether '50-50' is a new biscuit in the market. The AIMIM supremo reiterated that they will “not extend support to either BJP or Shiv Sena", the AIMIM supremo added, "What is this 50-50, is there a new biscuit (in the market)? How much 50-50 will you do? Do something for the people of Maharashtra. They (BJP and Shiv Sena) are not bothered about the destruction that rain has caused in Satara. Farmers are worried but all they talk about is 50-50," Owaisi said while addressing an event.

BJP has proposed a 13-26 formula to Shiv Sena

Sources said that the BJP has proposed a 13-26 formula to Shiv Sena, meaning it willing to give 13 portfolios to Sena members and keep 26 for BJP MLAs. Sources also said that there will be no discussion on the core portfolios. The sources added that the BJP is willing to let go of the Deputy CM post. The current distribution suggests that the BJP has countered the Shiv Sena's 50:50 power-sharing demand with a 33:66 one.
