New Delhi: After TMC's Kalyan Banerjee and Mahua Moita, Haryana Congress president Udai Bhan on Tuesday insulted Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, equating him to a ‘broken cot’. “Jhuka hua jaat aur tuti hui khaat kisi kaam ka nahi (a bowed Jat and a broken cot are of no use)”, Udai Bhan said while addressing an event.

‘Wont Apologise’

However, when Republic TV confronted the Congress leader and asked him to apologise, he said,"You have seen the viral video and my statement. It's everywhere and I don't want to comment now on that.  I stand with what I said. Moreover I have not used the name of Vice President in my statement. I have not done any crime , I will not appologise for my statement as there is nothing to be sorry for, why should I listen to BJP. It's my statement and I have said the reality."

How Opposition Leaders Defended Udai Bhan's Controversial Remarks

Speaking to Republic, Congress leader Tariq Anwar defended the Controversial remarks, saying,"Unnecessary BJP is making it a issue , Udai Bhan didn't take Vice President Jagdeep Dhankads name in any of his statement. First BJP targeted TMC leader for mimicry and now they are targeting congress. BJP is all doing this agenda politics to divert Jaat voters as BJP is aware of the Haryana politics. Udai Bhan singh has said nothing shameful and it's his opinion not the parties stand. Why a statement from Congress is being asked by BJP, a leader from Haryana Congress can voice his opinion, he might have seen the ground reality and then spoke about it. Neither mimicking is a crime nor giving statements is a crime."

Echoing similar remarks, CPI Leader D Raja said,"We don't feel there is a need to comment on this issue , we don't want to give fire to BJP agendas . What congress leader has said it's his opinion , INDI alliance has nothing to do in this. This issue was neither important during when TMC leader did mimicking nor it's of importance right now. We as Opposition are intact whatever happens such issues will not create rift amongst us. The concerned party should give a statement on this not us".

When Republic spoke to Samajwadi Party MP ST Hassan, he said,"For BJP everything is crime, they want opposition to say sorry but was there leader Pratap Simha sorry for the security breach issue? Was he questioned by BJP?  No he was not."

“When BJP leaders are standing firm with there leaders on such a big issue then why should congress not stand with there leaders? Udai Bhan has not done any crime, he only has said his opinion and it might be true in his eyes . BJP  is expert in diverting the issue, Opposition is demanding their response on issues like Parliament breach , employment , on newly passed criminal bills and other bills which were passed in absence of opposition and more over suspension of 150 MPs , BJP is silent on these issues rather is indulging on agenda politics by continuously playing Jaat vote bank card in the name of Vice President”, he added.
