Kolkata: A torch rally was organised by the West Bengal Junior Doctors' Forum and civil society organisations to the CBI office to demand speedy justice for the trainee doctor who was brutally raped and murdered at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. The rally began at the West Bengal Medical Council's office in the Salt Lake area and ended at the CBI's office at the CGO Complex in Sector 1.Notably, the junior doctors' forum has urged the CBI to expedite its investigation into the heinous crime, which has sent shockwaves throughout the country. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for November 4, and the forum is pushing for concrete action to be taken before then.The rally saw support from a section of senior doctors, who joined the junior doctors and civil society organisations in demanding justice for the victim. The event highlighted the outrage and concern among the medical community and civil society over the gruesome crime and the need for swift action to ensure that justice is served.The demand for speedy justice comes as the medical community continues to reel from the shock of the crime, which has raised concerns about the safety and security of medical professionals, particularly women. The CBI is under pressure to deliver results in the case, and the junior doctors' forum is determined to keep the pressure on until justice is served."It's almost three months since the incident happened. The CBI is still investigating the matter. We want them to quicken their probe," one of the agitating doctors was quoted as saying by PTI.A 31-year-old woman trainee doctor was raped and murdered at the RG Kar hospital on August 9, following which there were widespread protests across the country by doctors and the public, demanding justice for the victim.The junior doctors had earlier gone on a fast till death on October 5 after the West Bengal government had not fulfilled their demand. They withdrew their hunger strike after meeting Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on October 21.
