Veteran actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan's party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) has expressed its solidarity with the kins of the CRPF jawans who were martyred following a terror attack in Pulwama district along the Jammu-Srinagar highway on Thursday.
The MNM released a statement extending its complete support for any action, and mentioned that party's chief Kamal Haasan had called up J&K Governor's advisor regarding the same.
Having learnt that more than 40 CRPF soldiers were martyred at the Pulwama terrorist attack, Makkal Needhi Maiam party President Mr Kamal Haasan, contacted advisor of Jammu & Kashmir’s Governor Mr Vijaykumar via phone and spoke to him. “We, along with the people of India are observing the dedicated, indomitable spirit of you and your team during this dire circumstance. Each and every citizen of the nation stand by you and support all your actions regardless of political bias,” he assured.
On Thursday afternoon, an IED blast rocked the 70-vehicle convoy carrying CRPF jawans. They were heading from Jammu back to Srinagar. A total of 40 jawans were martyred and many others suffered injuries from the act of terror, whose responsibility has been claimed by Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammad.
The Indian government took cognizance of the incident, and vowed to punish the perpetrators behind the terror attack. The first step they did was to withdraw the Most Favored Nation (MNF) status accorded to Pakistan.
Another step which the Indian government is mulling to take is to remove the security provided to those who take support from Pakistan and ISI.
"There are certain elements which are involved with ISI and terrorist groups from across the border. Such groups are playing with the people of the state and its youth. There are elements in the state who take money from Pakistan and ISI. I have made it clear to J&K authorities that security for those elements who take money from Pakistan and ISI should be removed," said Home Minister Rajnath Singh in his press briefing after monitoring the situation in Kashmir.
