Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Wednesday expressed his opinion on the ongoing tussle between the BJP and Shiv Sena (SS) through the medium of a poem. Initially, he mentioned the refusal of Devendra Fadnavis to agree for having a rotational Chief Minister in Maharashtra. Thereafter, Sibal hinted at the influence of BJP, which is in power at the Centre as well. Then, he alleged that BJP was compelling SS to fall in line by highlighting the possibility of action by investigative agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax department and the Central Bureau of Investigation. It has been the long-standing argument of Congress that the investigative agencies have been targeting opposition leaders at the behest of the Central government.

The BJP-SS tussle
The results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections were declared on October 24. While BJP secured 105 seats, its alliance partner SS could bag only 56 seats. As the tally of BJP dropped by 17 seats in comparison to the 2014 election, a tussle between the two parties over the CM post has commenced. Thus, since the declaration of results, both BJP and SS have been welcoming the support of Independents to leverage their individual positions.
For instance, Achalpur MLA Bachchu Kadu and Melghat MLA Rajkumar Patel belonging to the Prahar Janshakti Party (PJP) along with two other Independents extended their support to SS. Currently, their total tally has risen to 61 seats. On the other hand, rebel MLA Geeta Jain, Yuva Swamibhan Party chief Ravi Rana, Independent legislators Rajendra Raut, Kishor Jorgewar and Vinay Kore have joined hands with the BJP. On Monday, both parties met the Maharashtra Governor separately. Moreover, Fadnavis informed the media on Tuesday that the government would function for the next 5 years under the leadership of BJP. Hence, he reportedly ruled out the chances of SS sharing the CM post for two and a half years.
