Karnataka Lokayukta Raids Multiple Locations in State

Bengaluru: The Karnataka Lokayukta, the state’s anti-corruption watchdog conducted raids across multiple districts on Thursday as part of investigations into four cases registered against government officials.

Raids were carried out by the anti-corruption agency in Kolar, Bengaluru City, and Mandya districts targeting approximately 25 locations linked to various officials. The agency scrutinized records and other evidence during the operation.

In Chikkaballapur, the raids focused on Krishnaveni MC, Senior Geologist in the Department of Mines and Geology, while in Mandya, Mahesh, Managing Director of Kaveri Neeravari Nigama at the Surface Water Data Centre in Bengaluru, was under investigation. Other officials targeted included NK Thippe Swamy, Director of Town and Country Planning, and Mohan K, Excise Superintendent in Bengaluru City.

Further details about the ongoing operation are still awaited.

This is not the first time the Karnataka Lokayukta has undertaken such actions. In July, the agency carried out simultaneous raids across six districts, targeting 12 state officials. Raids spanned 54 locations, including the residences of officials in Bengaluru City, Bengaluru Rural, Shimoga, Yadagiri, and Tumkur districts.

Among those investigated in the July raids were CT Muddu Kumar, Additional Director of the Industries and Commerce Department; Balawanth, Project Director of Yojana Nirdarshakaru; R Siddappa, Senior Veterinary Officer; K Narasimha Murthy, Municipal Commissioner of Hebbagodi CMC; and Ramesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, along with several others.

The Karnataka Lokayukta plays a pivotal role in combating corruption and addressing maladministration in the state, investigating complaints against public servants to uphold accountability and transparency.
