Kerala floods: Pinarayi Vijayan government holds farewell to express love and gratitude towards defence forces
The security forces have been hailed as heroes for their unrelenting service during the rescue and relief operations in flood-hit Kerala. And, now to thank their unwavering service to humanity, the Kerala government on Sunday held a farewell to honour the defence forces.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, while appreciating the military and paramilitary forces for rescuing the stranded, said if not for the forces working with the government, the calamity could have been worse.
At the farewell, Air Marshal B Suresh thanked the Kerala Chief Minister in return for his support, saying the forces could act efficiently because of the directions given by the CM Vijayan.
Indian Air Force, Navy and Army had deployed defence personnel including medical teams, engineers, paratroopers and divers to help during relief and rescue operations in Kerala.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, too, hailed the Indian armed forces for rescuing live of those trapped in the floods, braving adversities
"The Air Force, Navy, Army, BSF, CISF, RAF, every agency has played an exemplary role in the rescue and relief operations,” said PM Modi during his Mann Ki Baat address.
Notably, along with the security forces, several good Samaritans, too, came forward to render humanitarian assistance to the victims of Kerala flood. From fisherman travel over 100 Km to flood-ravaged areas to rescue the stranded to a 9-year-old's contribution to the victims of Kerala floods, there are plenty heartwarming stories of courage and love doing the rounds on social media.
Floods created havoc in the coastal state of Kerala with over 54 lakh people being directly affected by it. To assist the flood-hit state with the losses and rehabilitation of people packed into relief camps, the Centre provided Rs 600 crore as advance assistance.
