BJP Highlighted Shocking Rape-Murder, Crime Sparked Protests
The incident came to light after the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) leader Amit Malviya shared a tweet about the incident. According to Malviya's tweet, the villagers found the minor girl's body on the riverbank. He further added that angry villagers attacked the Kultali police station after the officials refused to taker the company because the "rapist(s) is apparently a Muslim and WB Police is reluctant to act, lest they upset Home Minister Mamata Banerjee ."
As the body of the girl was recovered by locals in Jaynagar area early this morning, a mob torched the Mahismari police outpost and pelted the policemen with stones. They also vandalised several vehicles parked outside the outpost and the policemen were forced to leave the premises, a senior officer said. A huge police force was sent to the area and tear gas shells were fired to quell the mob which tried to confine the SDPO and other senior personnel at the spot.
