The North-east monsoon has caused massive disruption to the Nilgiris district, as extremely heavy rainfall has been recorded in the past two days.
Rescue forces are currently working on removing the debris from the roads that have been completely blocked due to the mudslides.
Transportation has reportedly come to a complete halt. In view of the current situation, District Collector Aruna requested people to avoid travelling to the Nilgiris.
