Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla writes to PM Modi, requests ‘biggest, most beautiful’ Parliament by 2022

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, conveying his request for the revamp of the Parliament so that it is the biggest and most beautiful.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla writes to PM Modi, requests ‘biggest, most beautiful’ Parliament by 2022

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, conveying his request for  the revamp of the Parliament to be the biggest and most beautiful. Birla hoped that by 2022, when India will celebrate his  75th Independence Day, PM’s vision for a  ‘New India’ includes a bigger and advance Parliament.

In a letter addressed to PM Modi in Hindi on Monday, Birla wrote, “The Indian Republic ‘s biggest temple, the Parliament has completed 92 golden years. All the political decisions of the World’s largest democracy are taken from this institution. Since achieving freedom, this democracy’s growth has raised the accountability of this sacred and great institution and have expanded the aspirations. In such a case, we all request you that the world’s largest democracy’s  Parliament should be the biggest and the most  beautiful . So I would like to request that when India completes 75 years of Independence in 2022, your vision of ‘New India’ also includes expansion and modernisation of the Parliament. I along with the other members of the Lok Sabha would like to assure that the holiness and dignity of the Parliament will be held firmly.”

Before this, the Lok Sabha Speaker Birla had also pushed for digitisation, stating that it would save crores of rupees.

“We should go completely digital. We will give an option form to members who can chose whether they want to go digital or not. I am hopeful that we will set an example for the rest of the country," he has said during the Zero Hour.

Meanwhile, there was high drama in the Parliament on Monday as the bill to revoke Article 370 was passed in the Rajya Sabha amid protests from the Oppostion.
