Balaghat: In a shocking incident, a sloth bear died in Madhya Pradesh 's Balaghat after a crude bomb exploded inside the bear’s mouth. It is being claimed that the bear was trying to eat the crude bomb that was allegedly coated with corn flour to lure and kill wild boars. The incident occurred at around 2 pm on Sunday in Bijora village of Balaghat, which is located on the edge of the Laugur forest range.

After the incident, the body of the wild bear was found by a patrolling team with a severely damaged mouth. As per the forest officials, the villagers in the Laugur forest range often use these types of bombs coating them with food materials to lure and hunt wild bears.

Reports suggested that the villagers allegedly planted these bombs coating them with food materials in the fields near the forest. These bombs, once consumed by animals, cause fatal injuries to them.

It is being said that the wild boar appeared to have reached the revenue area near the village and accidentally consumed one of these bombs.

The viscera sample has been collected and sent to labs in Jabalpur and Sagar for examination. Meanwhile, patrolling teams have been asked to be more vigilant and the same has
intensified.

Efforts are underway to identify those who placed the bomb which killed the bear.
