Mahadev betting app case: Prime suspect Deepak Nepali arrested
Deepak Nepali involvement included the procurement of fake IDs to sustain the fraudulent activities of the betting racket.
New Delhi: Deepak Nepali, a prime suspect involved in the Mahadev Betting App case under the National Security Act, has finally been arrested. The successful arrest was the result of a collaborative effort between the Durg Crime Branch and Vaishali Nagar Police in Chhattisgarh. Deepak Nepali (36) played a pivotal role as one of the key promoters of the illicit Mahadev online betting app.
Hailing from Vaishali Nagar in Chhattisgarh, he served as a direct contact for the mastermind, Saurav, and actively participated in the syndication that facilitated the operation of the betting scam network. His involvement included the procurement of fake IDs to sustain the fraudulent activities of the betting racket.
The joint operation carried out by the Durg Crime Branch and Vaishali Nagar Police has marked a significant breakthrough in the pursuit of justice against those involved in the Mahadev Betting App case. As per the police officials, several cases have been registered against him at different districts including Supela, Vaishali Nagar and Cantonment police stations. Sources within the police informed that he was guarded due to political connections and hence nabbing him took some time but the change in the Chhattisgarh government escalated the arrest and police swung into action swiftly.
Deepak Nepali, is being questioned by officials from the Vaishali Nagar police about his utilisation of counterfeit ID SIM cards in orchestrating the betting scam. This line of inquiry aims to unravel the intricacies of how Nepali, following the directives issued by mastermind Saurav Chandrakar, employed fake identification SIM cards to facilitate and sustain the fraudulent operations of the Mahadev Betting App.
Durg Senior Superintendent of Police Ram Gopal Garga, in a statement, said, "Deepak Nepali was arrested from the Vaishali Nagar area just as he was about to flee the city. Investigations have unveiled that the Mahadev App operated under Nepali's patronage, with its presence extending beyond Bhilai Fort to encompass the entire state of Chhattisgarh. Currently, the accused is undergoing interrogation, shedding light on the intricate details of the app's operation and the widespread use of fake IDs under his influence."
Meanwhile, according to sources, Dubai authorities, acting on intelligence provided by security agencies, are closely monitoring the movements of another key figure associated with the Mahadev online betting app. Saurav Chandrakar, the alleged mastermind behind the betting syndicate, is currently under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for suspected involvement in money laundering activities. The international scrutiny on Chandrakar's activities adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing efforts to unravel the financial intricacies of the Mahadev online betting app case.
