The Sena Mouthpiece Saamana newspaper on Tuesday, November 19 slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party over removing Shiv Sena from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) alliance. The paper also mentioned that the decision to remove Sena from the NDA was made in haste and was completely wrong on the part of the BJP.
'Who are you?'
The editorial also took a dig at the ruling party by saying, that when all the other parties had abandoned BJP only then party chief Bal Thackeray was the one who supported them. Sena said that BJP took this decision on the death anniversary of Bal Thackeray and also questioned them asking 'Who were they to do so?'
They also allegedly accused that BJP gave the reason as Sena's ongoing talks with Congress and NCP for the end of the NDA alliance. Further hitting out at BJP, Sena said that the reverse counting of BJP has started in Maharashtra and people will never support BJP as they believe in Shivaji Maharaj and their ideologies. The editorial also read that 'Shiv Sena Zindabad' will be echoed across Maharashtra.
Slams Governor
Earlier, Saamana in an editorial, on Monday, November 18, criticised the relief provided by the Central government to the distressed farmers for untimely rains in Maharashtra. They touched various topics relating to farmers, including insurance, relief, the commencement of rabi crops and other issues. The editorial also took a dig at the ruling party by saying, both Centre and State are within their control and they should thus increase the compensation being provided to the distressed farmers.
BJP-Shiv Sena fallout
After the assembly elections, the Mahayuti alliance partners - BJP and Shiv Sena had a fallout over the chief minister's position in the state. Uddhav Thackray-led Shiv Sena said the chief minister's position should be equally divided between the parties as per the 50:50 formula. However, BJP leader and former CM Devendra Fadnavis denied any such formula. Both parties are now eyeing to form the next government separately in Maharashtra -which is currently under President's rule. While the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress is still in talks to finalise the Common minimum programme to form an alliance, the BJP has vowed that it will form the next government. The Mahayuti alliance swept Maharashtra on October 24, winning a combined tally of 161 (BJP- 105, Sena -56).
