New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday launched a scathing attack at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Trinamool Congress over the recent death of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, suspecting it to be a murder.

The saffron party has been repeatedly criticising the Mamata-led government over the rising crime against women.

'If Women Are Not Safe Under Her Watch Imagine Sandeshkhali'

Drawing similarities with Sandeshkhali, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla asserted that if women are not safe under CM Banerjee who is also Health Minister and Home Minister is "deplorable."

"Semi-nude body of a woman post-graduate trainee (PGT) doctor was found inside the seminar hall of a government-run hospital in Kolkata on Friday. Her father alleged that she was raped and murdered inside RG Kar Medical College and Hospital and efforts are on to hide the truth. The second year PGT teacher, who was on call duty for 36 hours... The condition of RG Kar Medical College And Hospital under Mamata Banerjee who is , Health Minister & Home Minister, is deplorable  If women are not safe under her watch imagine Sandeshkhali…"

Further urging for a CBI probe into the case, Shehzaad said, "The case should be immediately handed over to the CBI and  family should not be made to run from pillar to post, seeking High Court’s intervention."

'A Disgrace to Bengal'

Meanwhile, BJP MLA Adgnimitra Paukl said, "A medical student at RG Kar Hospital was reportedly found dead under suspicious circumstances, potentially a victim of rape the medical student was reportedly may be a potential rape victim who isn’t wearing any bottom clothing. The incident occurred in a room next to the seminar hall, and there are allegations of a cover-up."

In a video posted on her X, the MLA added, " The police, under @MamataOfficial 's administration, are being accused of inaction. This raises serious concerns about the safety of women in Kolkata. Despite claims by Mamata Banerjee's government that West Bengal is the safest state in the country, critics argue that the reality is starkly different. Allegations suggest that false data is being sent to the NCRB to paint a misleading picture of safety. Even attempts to file an FIR reportedly result in no action being taken. This incident has sparked widespread condemnation and is seen as a disgrace to Bengal."

'Pretends as If Nothing Happened'

In-charge of BJP's National Information & Technology Dept. Co-incharge West Bengal, Amit Malviya took to X and said that everytime a woman is raped and murdered in Bengal, Mamata Banerjee pretends as if nothing has happened. He further said that it would be best if Mamata hands over the investigation to the CBI and medical examination to AIIMS Kalyani or Command Hospital in Kolkata.

"Everytime a woman is raped and murdered in Bengal, Mamata Banerjee pretends as if nothing has happened. Pushed to the wall, she either character assassinates the victim or worse defends the rapist, like in the case of #Sandeshkhali."

"She is vile. Someone, who legitimises rapes and murders as tools of political retribution, with her silent acquiescence. Women of West Bengal won’t be safe as long as she is the Chief Minister. She must go," he said in X.

"The resident doctors and students of RG Kar Medical College have no confidence in either Kolkata Police or State agencies to do the right thing. It would be best if Mamata Banerjee hands over the investigation to the CBI and medical examination to AIIMS Kalyani or Command Hospital in Kolkata."
