A bomb disposal squad carried out a controlled explosion on a suspicious package at the Manchester Airport transport interchange on September 23, reported ANI. A man has been detained at the scene by the Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

Controlled explosion carried out by bomb squad

While the flights remained unaffected, the transport facilities to the airport were disrupted, as per reports. However, there have been no cancellations or delays in the flights. The interchange train station at the Manchester Airport was evacuated as a precautionary measure and an investigation was initiated into the incident. Bomb disposal officers are assisting the police in the investigations. All the railway lines at the airport were closed ensuingly.

"A cordon is in place at Manchester Airport transport interchange and people are encouraged to follow directions from officers," Greater Manchester Police said in a statement. "Trams, trains and buses are currently suspended to and from the airport exchange."

The Greater Manchester Police also tweeted in this regard, assuring the citizens that there is nothing to worry about. The tweet read, "The majority of closures that were put in place have now been lifted and the traffic is returning to normal. A small scene remains in place in the ground floor area of the coach stations as officers continue with inquiries."

Naked man at the Airport?

Reports have emerged claiming that a naked man was seen running in and out of Manchester Airport buildings at 6:10 am in the morning. After that, the police cordoned off the coach and train station. This incident sparked travel chaos with long queues on roads and passengers and cabin crews struggling to reach the departure terminal.
