Rajouri: Bhawana Kesar from Nowshera in the Rajouri district became the first woman from her region to clear the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Service (Judicial) examination. Hailing from a middle-class family Bhawana's father works as a tailor in Naushahra Bazaar while her mother is a homemaker.

Bhawana, who lived close to the LoC, and pursued her BA and LLB from Punjab University, said, “Living close to the Line of Control (LoC) is no excuse to give up one's dreams.” She told ANI, “It is a matter of happiness for my parents that their daughter has come so far. I hope to be an inspiration for others, going forward.”

She added, "My message to all the girls out there is to pursue your education and never give up on your dreams, no matter what. Do not fear what’s happening around you. Bravely face and overcome all situations you find yourselves in. Everything is achievable if you set your mind to it. Just do it! I hope to see more judges from my native district. If you want to accomplish something, you can do it against all odds."
