Modi-Xi Jinping meet: Mamallapuram fishermen asked not to go fishing
Mamallapuram fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea until further notice by the fisheries department. The notice comes ahead of India-China meet.

Ahead of Prime Minister Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping's summit at Mamallapuram on October 11-12, the fisheries department of the state has asked all the fishermen of the area to not go fishing in the sea from Thursday onwards. The fishing boats have been asked to remain offshore until further notice by the department.
According to reports, fishermen's association president S Vijayakumar said, "Officials called and told us to not go for fishing in the sea from Thursday."
The fishermen are hoping to be allowed to go for fishing post 4 days. According to the fishermen's association president, there are 62 registered and 15 unregistered fishing boats in the Mamallapuram area.
The Summit
In an official statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs, it is stated that the forthcoming Chennai Informal Summit "will provide an opportunity for the two leaders to continue their discussions on overarching issues of bilateral, regional and global importance." The two world leaders will exchange views on strengthening the India-China Closer Development Partnership. The Chinese President is visiting India for the second informal summit at the invitation of PM Modi.
The summit between the two 'Asian Giants' will be held in the coastal town of Mamallapuram in Chennai. Ahead of the crucial summit between PM Modi and Xi Jinping, last-minute preparations are underway.
According to sources, the meeting between the two leaders does not have a fixed agenda. However, the meeting is believed to be focussing on improving people to people contact.

Earlier in the day reports of both countries holding joint anti-terror exercise also emerged.
