Money from liquor sale, not of Congress: Dhiraj Sahu issues first reaction after ₹351 Cr cash haul

Dhiraj Sahu claimed that the money belongs to the liquor firms he owns and that it has nothing to do with the Congress party.

Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu, on December 15, reacted to the mega cash recovery worth Rs 351 crore from his premises in Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha.

In an interview with ANI, Sahu claimed that the money belongs to the liquor firms he owns and that it has nothing to do with the Congress party. He even said that the cash haul which lasted 10 days has hurt him because he tried not to get involved in any controversy.

"What is happening today makes me sad. I can admit that the money that has been recovered belongs to my firm. The cash that has been recovered is related to my liquor firms, it is the proceedings from the sale of liquor," Sahu said.

"This money has nothing to do with Congress or any other political party as is being said. The money is not all mine, it belongs to my family and other related firms," he further said.

The Income Tax raid on the premises linked to Sahu's firm Boudh Distillery Private Limited started on December 6 and stacks of cash worth Rs 351 crore were recovered from multiple almirahs.

During the interview, Sahu said that he has a big family and which has been involved in business for almost 100 years. "Whatever business we own is completely transparent. Cash is used for transaction in the liquor business," the MP said. 

Sahu said that he is also ready to give account for the recovered cash to the Income Tax. “Please wait for a few days, I will present everything before the public,” he added.
