3 Killed, 8 Others Injured as 3 Storey Building Collapses in Jharkhand's Deoghar
At least three persons were killed and eight others were injured after a three-storey residential building collapsed in Jharkhand’s Deoghar district on Sunday.
Deoghar: At least three persons were killed and eight others were injured after a three-storey residential building collapsed in Jharkhand’s Deoghar district on Sunday. The incident that occurred on Sunday morning left several people buried under the debris of the building that collapsed in Deoghar, the district officials said. Following the incident, a rescue operation was initiated at the site at around 6 am, which concluded at around 4 pm.
Deoghar Deputy Commissioner (DC) Vishal Sagar said 11 people were trapped under the rubble after the building collapsed in the town early this morning.
"Four children were rescued by the local people. We immediately deployed a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team which retrieved seven people from under the debris," Sagar told PTI.
All the seven people were taken to the Deoghar Sadar Hospital, and “three of them were declared dead” by doctors of the health facility, he said.
The families of the injured and the deceased people will be provided compensation as per the government norms, the DC said.
"Of the seven people taken to the hospital, two were declared brought dead and a woman succumbed to her injuries. The treatment of the four others, including a child, is underway," Deoghar Civil Surgeon Ranjan Sinha told PTI. NDRF Inspector Randhir Kumar said the 10-hour-long rescue operation ended around 4.10 pm.
Earlier in the day, Godda MP Nishikant Dubey, who was present at the site, said, "A three-storey house collapsed on Bambam Jha Path in Deoghar today around 6 am. Union Home Minister Amit Shah immediately sent a team. Since morning, I am myself present at the site of the incident along with senior BJP leaders and local people. Local people have rescued 3 people so far and NDRF has rescued 1 woman. Rescue operations are underway, Deoghar AIIMS has arranged treatment facilities for the injured."
Godda MP Nishikant Dubey, Deoghar Superintendent of Police, and Deoghar Deputy Commissioner were present at the spot, coordinating relief and rescue operations.
