The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken cognisance of the brutal, horrific and shocking triple-murder of a RSS worker, his pregnant wife and their child in West Bengal's Murshidabad, over which the BJP and RSS are holding massive protests demanding action by the state government.

NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma has written to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the state's Director General of Police over the gruesome incident and their failure to nab the culprits. The RSS worker, his wife, and their child were found dead at their residence on October 9.

"The lady was 8-months pregnant. The police hasn't taken any action. After the incident the culprits vanished and weren't caught. Why are these things happening in West Bengal? There are so many questions that need an answer," she said, having earlier tweeted on the matter.

"The Commission is seriously perturbed and has vehemently condemned the incident. The Commission observed that in the past two years, there has been an increase in crime against women. Most of the criminal incidents have taken place in broad daylight in West Bengal and the inaction by West Bengal police is further boosting the confidence of criminals," the NCW's letter states. The BJP has voiced its outrage over the murders, with the party's West Bengal chief Dilip Ghosh slamming the Mamata government.

"The way in which this sad incident has taken place in Murshidabad along with the other similar murder incidents of BJP workers in the past few days, shows the poor condition of law and order in the state, and the situation is very tense," he said, adding, "The politics did not stop even in the Durga Puja festival. The whole society has been criminalized and the criminals are operating the society and the system. There is no possibility of peace in the state until this government is in power."
