New Delhi: The Delhi police on Saturday nabbed a notorious criminal wanted in a shooting incident in North East Delhi’s Seelampur area after an encounter. A police team of the Seelampur police station arrested the accused, who sustained a bullet injury on his leg and shifted to a nearby hospital. According to the police, the accused fired a gunshot at police personnel from behind a tree, but the cop narrowly escaped the bullet. In retaliatory firing, the accused sustained a gunshot injury on his leg.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP, North East Delhi) stated that secret information was received regarding the suspect wanted in connection with a shooting incident on November 2. The intelligence input claimed that the accused was set to meet one of his associates at Tikona Park near Dharampura red light at 8 pm.
Based on the information, the police personnel positioned themselves discreetly around the park, scanning for any sign of the suspect. As HC Navnesh and Constable Manish entered through the main gate, the accused, hiding behind a tree, fired a gunshot, pointing at them. The police personnel narrowly missed the bullet.
HC Navnesh immediately resorted to retaliatory firing from his service pistol causing bullet injury in the right leg of the accused. The attacker, later identified as 19-year-old Md Adnan, was nabbed by the police and his weapon was seized.
