NSUI issued showcause notice over Hardik Patel's presence at its event
In yet another trouble for Congress-affiliated NSUI ahead of JNUSU polls, the student wing has been issued a show-cause notice by the election committee
In yet another trouble for the Congress-affiliated NSUI ahead of the students' union elections of JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University), the student wing was issued a show-cause notice on Saturday by the election committee of the University. NSUI was issued a show-cause notice after Congress leader Hardik Patel attended one of its poll events. With the model code of conduct in place for the JNUSU elections, the rules state that no outsider can canvass for the parties. As per news agency PTI, JNU's student unit of NSUI had taken permission for Hardik Patel's presence in their programme, however, it was declined by the election committee.
NSUI show-caused
NSUI organised an event named "Mashal Juloos' and in the invites, it was stated that the programme will be addressed by Gujarat Congress leader Hardik Patel. In light of the development, the election committee issued a first show-cause notice on Friday to NSUI. Replying to the notice, the student body denied, saying that it was not aware how Patel was present at the event. However, the election committee did not find NSUI's reply satisfactory and issued a second show-cause notice, seeking a response within 24 hours. As per the officials from the election committee, if NSUI's reply is not found satisfactory, then their election nomination would be cancelled.
