Odisha Man Kills Wife Over Extra-Marital Affair by Hitting Her With Sharp Stones

Berhampur: A 25-year-old man and his friend were arrested on Sunday in Odisha 's Ganjam district, for allegedly murdering his wife over suspicions of an extra-marital affair, police reported. The accused, identified as Pintu Naik and his friend Partha Naik, 22, reportedly carried out the brutal act on October 17 in the Badagada area within Sheragada police station limits.According to investigators, Pintu allegedly killed his wife, Jhumuri, 24, by repeatedly hitting her with sharp stones tied to a string and later disposed of her body in a forest. The decomposed body was discovered on October 26.Pintu and Jhumuri had been married for five years and had a three-year-old son together, SDPO (Aska) Sanjay Kumar Mohapatra informed. Trouble in their marriage began when Jhumuri allegedly developed an affair with Pintu’s cousin, Krushna Chandra Nayak, who frequently visited their home. Around three months ago, she left Pintu and their child to live with Krushna.On October 17, Pintu and Partha visited Krushna’s residence, where Pintu pleaded with Jhumuri to return home, citing their son’s distress. Agreeing to go, Jhumuri accompanied them on a motorcycle driven by Partha. Near a forest area, they stopped, and Pintu allegedly attacked Jhumuri with the stones until she died, officials said.The murder weapon was seized, and the two men were taken into custody.(With PTI inputs)
