Humans of Bombay's Instagram page posted a story which went viral due to the heart-wrenching struggle of Aditya Tiwari. The post has received 77,000 likes with 10,000 comments in 23 hours. "About 5 years ago, it was my dad’s birthday and I went to an orphanage to give sweets. That’s when I saw Avinash, he was 5 months old. No one was paying attention to him. I couldn’t help it and picked him up, he laughed and we just clicked," Aditya said in the post. The post revealed Aditya's relentless care for his son, Avinash which led him to discover the malpractices taking place at an orphanage.
I Researched on Adoption Laws: Aditya Tiwari
"When I went home that night, I couldn’t stop thinking about how he was all alone there. So I went back & to see if they’d let me adopt him," said Tiwari. The Instagram post reflects Tiwari's care for Avinash who had Down Syndrome and shows how he wasn't ready to give up his dream to adopt the kid. Tiwari describes how the orphanage claimed that a bachelor younger than 30 years of age wouldn't be able to adopt a kid. But Tiwari claims that he researched on adoption laws and was adamant about his aim.
Exposing the Malpractices
Aditya Tiwari reached out to the Child Welfare Council and couldn't find any records of Avinash. He also realised that there were undocumented children being kept in the orphanage. His quick-wittedness made him contact the police who didn't help him out and asked him to stay out of this matter. Hence, he approached the Welfare Minister which led to the orphanage getting banned and their malpractices coming to light. He finally could adopt Avinash and gain his custody legally. "He’s the best thing that’s happened to me, he’s my world, he’s my son," he said in the post.
