New Delhi: AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi, on Saturday, sparked a bizarre controversy by accusing the Centre of introducing the much-debated Waqf Amendment Bill out of its hatred towards the Muslim community.
In his attempt to further fearmonger as he spoke about 'a temple being demolished 400 years ago,' Owaisi said in the 10th century, King Indra demolished the Kalapriya Temple.
He said, “They ask me to speak up, what do I have to do with the Mughals? They were emperors; they had no religion. They use religion to expand their rule. If Narendra Modi and the BJP have so much affinity for Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, then they must provide reservation for the Marathas.”

Owaisi had earlier said the Bill, in its current form, would lead to social instability as the Muslim community had rejected it.
He went on to say that the implementation of the bill would take India back to the 1980s and early 1990s.
Issuing a caution and warning to the government, Owaisi said if Waqf law was brought in its present form, it would be a violation of Articles 25, 26 and 14 and that no Waqf property would be left.
Owaisi said as a 'proud Indian Muslim,' he would not lose an inch of his Masjid. He said, “I will not lose an inch of my Dargah; won't allow that.”
Detailing his dissent further, he'd said that Waqf was his property, which was not given by anyone and that it was a form of worship for him.
